As founder of Milwaukee Food & City Tours, I was SO honored when I discovered that I had been nominated by one of our great tour fans and then in February 2014, recognized as a 40 Under 40 in Milwaukee. As I said at the awards reception, "I've always loved Milwaukee, but now I'm head over heels in love with Milwaukee!" I'm so proud to show off our great city to tourists and locals alike. Thank YOU for allowing me to do so.Read More
Meet Jessie, a Milwaukee Food & City Tours guide for the past 3 years. An East Sider, who has lived on Brady Street for many years, she loves to share her neighborhood’s pedestrian-friendly streets with locals and tourists alike. One of her favorite stops on our Brady Street tour is Cempazuchi's where she greets the staff by name when ordering their traditional Mexican street food. The house made chips and peanut salsa are muy buenos! Taste for yourself and learn the story of the restaurant’s name when you and your friends join us for a Brady Street Food Tour… purchase your advance tickets today! When Jessie isn't leading tours on Brady Street, or reading a book in one of its many cafes, she shares her passion for the performing arts by working for Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) at The Broadway Theatre Center. For those of you who have taken our Historic Third Ward dinner tour, you probably already know the story of Clair Richardson and his many hauntings within that building. Clair is one of the most well-known ghosts of Milwaukee's past. We'll be sharing his tale, and the tales of many more, on our Ghouls & Spirits Adult Trick or Treat Bus tour in October. This 3-hour bus tour features a haunted city tour with ghost stories throughout the Third Ward, along Brady Street, down Wisconsin Avenue in the Concordia neighborhood, and even through a historic cemetery. Enjoy three food/drink stops along the way - appetizers and wine while exploring a historic hotel, an entree while sipping your choice of pumpkin punch or seasonal craft beer, plus dessert and more at our final resting stop of the evening!
To get in the mood before joining us on this special Halloween adventure, why not enjoy a ghost story first? Get $10 OFF tickets for Milwaukee Chamber Theatre's THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE, September 18 – October 13. The plot of this play centers on Alice Conroy, an avid fan of murder mysteries. When her own husband, a Chicago homicide detective, is gunned down, she sets out to uncover who did it... and why. As a special offer to all Milwaukee Food & City Tours fans, Jessie has arranged a $10 discount for you! Just ask for “GHOST10” when ordering at the box office or by phone at 414-291-7800. Meet Sandy: Sandy is a born and raised Milwaukee gal with a long lineage of German ancestors, celebrating her 3rd tour season with Milwaukee Food Tours in 2013. When she’s not cooking a steak from a local butcher in her favorite cast iron skillet, Sandy enjoys biking with her family.
Sandy leads many of our private and group travel outings, along with our specialty public tours such as the Christmas Around Milwaukee Bakery Bus. As a matter of fact, it is such a popular tour, she'll be leading a Christmas in July version of this tour on Saturday, July 20th at 9:30 am! If you'd like to join the fun, visit: http://www.zerve.com/MKEFoodTours/Bakery
Or, do you want to have Sandy lead your private tour for your group? Private tours can be arranged on any of our walking or bus tours, or tours can be completely customized with your group in mind. Unique themes include:
- Takin’ it to the Streets tour – hosted in conjunction with the Milwaukee Public Museum, we begin the day with a stroll through the Streets of Old Milwaukee and European Village exhibits, then we’ll “take it to the streets” with a city-wide adventure created with your group in mind
- Progressive Ethnic Lunch or Dinner in Milwaukee – enjoy a progressive lunch or dinner in which we provide history of Milwaukee’ immigrant tastes by highlighting three ethnic restaurants in downtown Milwaukee during a 3-course meal
- Beer Barons of Milwaukee - explore Milwaukee’s long tradition of brewing great beers as we delve into the stories behind the famed brewers and their grand breweries of the yesteryear. Brewing isn’t just a thing of the past for Brew City, so we’ll enjoy craft brewery samples along the way too, along with lunch and more!
