Jake planned the perfect second anniversary date night in Milwaukee for his unsuspecting bride-to-be, Gabby, complete with tickets to one of our Christmas Lights & Desserts Tour. The tour provided a unique proposal backdrop for the couple who enjoyed seeing the downtown Milwaukee Christmas lights on their first date.
The Secret Plan
The Christmas Lights & Desserts tour features a singing tour guide, desserts and drinks, and stops to see the holiday light displays. Jake called Milwaukee Food & City Tours before purchasing his tickets online to share his intentions and make sure he knew the format of the tour. After learning which parks we would be visiting, he went on a visit on his own to decide the perfect place in Milwaukee for the marriage proposal. We also arranged for Miranda Zynda-Kneeland of Reminisce Studio by Miranda and Adam to attend the tour and document the occasion. Not only has Miranda served as our official tour photographer and captured all of the fabulous images for our new website, but happens to be a talented photographer with experience in capturing marriage proposals for clients.
The Proposal
The Santa-approved tour is the perfect mix of history, Milwaukee Christmas traditions, tasty treats and light-hearted holiday spirit. We visit the Ambassador Hotel for cookies just like your grandma made along with hot chocolate and coffee, stop at Greige Patisserie for a delicious dessert and wine pairing, surprise our guests with a push up pop from Classy Girl Cupcakes, and give nod to Milwaukee’s German heritage with apple strudel and Gluhwein at Mader’s Restaurant. Beside all of these amazing treats, our singing tour guide carols along the way and guides our guests thru viewing opportunities through light displays at Cathedral Square, Zeidler Union Square, Red Arrow Park, Pere Marquette Park and the Historic Third Ward. Jake decided in advance that Zeidler Union Square would served as our final stop of the evening and location for the proposal.
After exiting the bus, tour attendees began to explore the park on their own to see the sparkle of the Christmas lights. In that moment, Jake had a very special question for Gabby and indeed, she said, “YES!”
A quick mini photo session to document the occasion in the park was followed by returning to the tour bus. Guests learned that we began the tour with two singles in attendance, but now complete it with an engaged couple! Our stunned tour attendees applauded and high-fived the couple upon their return, congratulating Jake and Gabby on their Milwaukee Christmas engagement. Departing Zeidler Union Square and in the warmth of a cozy tour bus, our tour guide dedicated one final song to the newly engaged couple by serenading the tour attendees with Elvis Presley’s, Can’t Help Falling in Love.
